~ Vote Pirate! Notes from a Pirate Party conferenceThe church of Kopimism considers the sharing of digital information to be a sacred act, and holds as its primary tenet: “‘Copy and Paste what thou wilt’ shall be the whole of the law.” In her slide deck, Pespisa proudly showed one of the Kopimists’ cherished symbols, a yin and yang with the copy-and-paste commands “Ctrl-C” and “Ctrl-V.”
“There isn’t really a god involved or anything. You’re not going to hell if you don’t share,” Pespisa said, one of many remarks that drew waves of laughter from her fellow pirates. Kopimism has a founder—Isak Gerson—”but we don’t worship him.”
Ce système permettra de croiser l’identité du citoyen avec son comportement de consommateur. Il sera également possible de lire le contenu de la carte à distance, sans contact, grâce à la technologie RFID. Phone Story is a game for smartphone devices that attempts to provoke a critical reflection on its own technological platform. Under the shiny surface of our electronic gadgets, behind its polished interface, hides the product of a troubling supply chain that stretches across the globe. Phone Story represents this process with four educational games that make the player symbolically complicit in coltan extraction in Congo, outsourced labor in China, e-waste in Pakistan and gadget consumerism in the West.~ The Other Steve Jobs: Censorship, Control and Labor Rights
“Comme un vulgaire marchand de viagra, François Hollande se lance donc dans le spam. Le porte-à-porte numérique, travail artisanal que pourrait encourager Twitter devient un travail d’usine, dans lequel le militant est censé endosser toutes les prises de parole de son candidat préféré sans pouvoir les valider au préalable. Tout au long du débat, l’équipe de campagne aura envoyé 3 tweets sur les comptes Twitter de ses affidés.”
~ Facebook Users Beware: Facebook’s New Feature Could Embarrass YouPeople need to be aware of what they’re signing up for when they add apps to the Timeline. Even my tech-savvy friends seem to set up these auto-share apps, completely forget about them, and return to doing things they wouldn’t necessarily want to share with all their friends.
Should you worry about Facebook’s new Gestures functionality? No, but even the most technical among us should be aware that sharing everything is not always wise, and that selecting the right privacy settings can protect you against any mistakes.
What happens when you let two bots have a conversation? We certainly never expected this…

Almost from the start the nascent UFO community began to construct a past for the UFO phenomena, ranging from the immediate past of ghost rockets and foo fighters, to the remote past of classical, Biblical and other ancient sources. These sources themselves can show us, Bullard argues, how culture can interpret observations (e.g. aurora perceived as armies fighting in the sky). He looks at the great airship flaps, perhaps rather superficially given the amount of work he once put into studying them. One feature he could have pointed out was how already these narratives were using folkloric imagery, and were invoking ambivalences about the rise of modern technology. The airships are already what the flying saucers will become, images of the transcendent machine.~ THE MAGONIA BLOG: UFO folk and Ufolklore
