Steve Hornsby from Bournemouth said the 3cm diameter balls came raining down late on Thursday afternoon during a hail storm. He found about a dozen of the balls in his garden. “The townspeople of Oakville, Washington, were in for a surprise on August 7, 1994. [‘Rain of luminous beams’ appears in the sky of Xiamen Huandao Road]

A fascinating and poetic report of Fortean phenomena from Xiamen, China: dozens of mysterious beams of light seen in the night sky over the area just before midnight, last Friday.

The phenomena last for about an hour. A Mr. Wang interviewed by a local paper stated that a friend alerted him to the lights in the sky. What he saw were a handful of lights that increased in a short time to perhaps 50.

A meteorological observatory in the area could provide no data confirming the sighting. There were no known meteor showers taking place at the time.
