She performs two songs on the U.S. NBC-TV programme, Saturday Night Live. This is the only live entertainment programme on U.S. television, and is the most influential programme for the pop music market, as well the most important American showcase for “alternative” music. Kate performs The Man With the Child in His Eyes, seated on a piano, to the accompaniment of veteran rock keyboardist Paul Shaffer; and Them Heavy People, in a raincoat and Fedora hat. Nothing remotely like it has ever been seen on American television before. (via Gaffaweb)

One gorgeous lady: a Framus 10600 “Les Paul Type” from 1978, with 2 warm vintage pickups, including one MMK 45 (from the famous japanese Matsumoku factory). i still have to find a copy of the original Melodymaker-like pickguard. Neck is very sweet with low action. #guitar #vintage #Framus #Matsumoku #pickup #1978 (Taken with instagram)

The files, dating from 1954 to 2009, include drawings of flying saucers and alleged samples of alien writing. The files include details of New Zealand’s most famous UFO sighting when strange lights were filmed off the South Island town of Kaikoura in 1978.

An official report from the time said natural phenomenon could explain it.

Although the incident made international headlines at the time, the military report suggested it could be lights from boats reflected in clouds or an unusual view of the planet Venus.

Following the release of the files, New Zealand Air Force spokesman Kavae Tamariki said the military did not have the resources to investigate UFO sightings and would not be commenting on the documents’ contents.

BUBU’s “Anabelas” is one of the most complete prog albums to have come out of Argentina in the 1970s. BUBU was quite a large band and actually with a wide range of talent and instrumentation. Along with the traditional rock set-up (guitar, bass, and drums), the band featured a violinist, flutist, saxophonist, and pianist. Each composition is filled with intense interaction between the musicians, dozens of melodic surprises, and unexpected tempo changes.

Their music is complex, energetic, and diabolical in a KING CRIMSON-ish sort of way. Very surprising is that there is no noodling and very little soling to be found here and although does offer a pretty trippy and wild musical experience, never gets too out of control or becoming un-accessible for the listener.
