L’adoption en août dernier, par l’Assemblée nationale du Venezuela, d’une Loi organique d’éducation (LOE), après ample débat dans tout le pays, a suscité et continue à susciter une avalanche médiatique anti-gouvernementale.

La presse anti-chaviste a crié à la « soviétisation », à la « cubanisation » de l’éducation, et même au bâillonnement des médias. La LOE serait une machine de guerre occultant entre les mots une loi contre « les délits médiatiques » destinée à museler presse et télévision…

La caricature médiatique de la LOE n’a rien à voir avec l’avant-projet puis avec le texte de loi. Les hiérarques de l’enseignement privé, de la très réactionnaire Eglise vénézuélienne, les associations de parents et d’enseignants de droite, etc., tiennent un discours très politique, déconnecté de la loi. Le cardinal Jorge Urosa a fait lire un message anti-LOE dans toutes les églises. Les évêques considèrent que « l’enseignement religieux dans les écoles est un droit acquis et fait partie de l’identité nationale ». Ils revendiquent sans le dire un statut particulier pour l’Eglise et une religion officielle.
